Service One

Custom Amigurumi Commissions

Amigurumi is the Japanese art of crocheting small stuffed figures, and it is the heart of our commission work. You can send a sketch, a photograph of a beloved toy, a favorite animal or a character idea, and we will turn it into a soft sculpture built to survive real hugs. The process begins with a fiber review: for children under three we work only in machine washable cotton with embroidered features and no loose plastic parts, while adult collectors may choose alpaca blends for a finer finish.

We build each figure from the feet up, shaping limbs, torso and head separately before joining them with reinforced seams. Faces are hand stitched with a small needle so the expression stays soft and friendly. Stuffing is packed in layers rather than rushed in one handful, which keeps the shape firm without lumps. Before shipping we photograph the finished figure from several angles and keep a small maker tag stitched inside so you know it came from our bench.

Our granny square blankets are made one square at a time and joined with a smooth seam that sits flat in the hand. Clients choose the palette, the finished size and the weight of the blanket, whether that means a light crib cover or a generous king size throw for a cold reading chair. We track every square on a paper count card so we can tell you exactly how much of the project is complete at any moment.

Joining is where many blankets fail, so we take it slowly. Each seam is worked with a matching or contrasting yarn and then checked for even tension along the row. A border follows, chosen to add weight to the edges so the blanket drapes instead of curling. When the last end is woven in, the blanket is blocked, measured and photographed. These are the pieces we expect to be handed down, so we make them to outlast the trend that inspired them.

Our seasonal home decor range keeps a room feeling current without a full redecorating budget. Across the year we release wreaths, garlands, bowl cozies, coasters, plant hangers, table runners and hanging baskets built around a chosen color story. Each collection is small and released only when the bench can make it well, so the pieces feel considered rather than mass produced.

Seasonal orders open ahead of each holiday so your pieces arrive with time to spare. Spring brings sage and blossom tones, summer leans into bright cotton and linen, autumn turns to burlap and rust, and winter returns to deep rosewood and cream. We also take custom requests when a client wants a set that matches a specific room or a family tradition. Every decor piece is finished with the same care as a blanket, because a coaster that frays is just as disappointing as a blanket that unravels.

Crochet Pattern Design

If you run a yarn shop, teach classes or sell your own makes, you may need an original pattern rather than a finished object. Our pattern design service turns an idea into a written, tested and graded set of instructions with stitch charts, stitch counts, notes and photo steps. We can write for a single size or grade a garment across a full range so it fits a wider audience.

Every pattern is test crocheted at least twice in different hands before it is released, because numbers that worked on our bench can behave differently for another maker. We check yarn weight, hook size, row repeats and the tricky corners where beginners most often lose their place. The final file is delivered in a clean printable layout with a chart key and a materials list. We can also include a short video walk through of a difficult section when a written note is not enough.

Yarn Subscription Boxes

Our yarn subscription boxes are the easiest way to build a thoughtful stash. Each box carries curated fiber, a printed mini pattern and a small notion, all built around a monthly or quarterly color story. Subscribers open the box to a coordinated palette rather than a random pile of odds and ends, which makes it simple to start a project the day it arrives.

Members receive first access to commission slots, a standing discount on studio makes and occasional surprise extras such as a hand wound mini skein or a limited stitch marker set. Boxes are packed at the same bench where we make our projects, and we keep a running note of each subscriber palette so repeat boxes build on what you already own. If you prefer a lighter commitment, single boxes are available as a gift without a recurring plan.

Mending and Restoration Service

Not every project starts from new yarn. Our mending and restoration service brings snagged sweaters, moth nibbles, loose afghan seams and unravelled heirlooms back to the bench for careful repair. We assess the damage, match fiber and color as closely as the original allows, and document every mend in a short report so you know what was done and how to care for the piece afterward.

Where a hole is too large to simply close, we may rework a section of the original stitch pattern or add a decorative patch that turns the repair into a feature. We always aim to preserve the character of the original piece rather than hiding its history. Repairing a beloved textile keeps it in use, out of the waste stream and close to the family that loves it, which is exactly the kind of work a small studio should be proud to do.

We work in timed sessions and share progress at agreed checkpoints. For larger blankets and decor sets, you can adjust minor details before the final finishing stage.

Stage Four

Finish, Wrap, Ship

Blocking, tagging, wrapping with a care card and tracking to your door. Repairs return with a short report describing each mend.
